Lamont's hypocrisy "knows no bounds"

Ned Lamont has been caught with his foot in his mouth (again):

Democratic Senate candidate Ned Lamont, who recently denounced Sen. Joe Lieberman for his public scolding of President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, lauded the senator at the time for his eloquence and moral authority. Lieberman's staff on Saturday called Lamont's recent criticisms hypocritical in light of a 1998 letter sent by e-mail.

Lieberman's campaign staff manager Sherry Brown really gets it right:
"He has run such a negative campaign up until this point that he had to reach back eight years to find something new to attack Joe Lieberman about -- and in this case, he was so desperate to lash out that he didn't seem to care that he was completely contradicting himself," Brown said.
But, you know its nothing surprising, considering the type of supporters Lamont is pandering to. His audience is the readers of nutroots websites like the DailyKOS and For pete's sake, he had Markos Moulitsas “Screw Them” Zuniga (KOS founder) in one of his campaign videos! These folks are nothing but negative, and can find nothing more constructive to do with their time than to scream catchy phrases like "FROG MARCH" and "BUSH LIED PEOPLE DIED" etc.

I think this election is going to be critical for the Democratic party. If they cave, as a party, to the nutroots, BDS side of their party, their effectiveness will in time become effectively zero. If they shut them down and swing back to where they "should" be (i.e., big government, lax social policies) they'll perhaps regain some of their credibility as a party.

You can't run a group forever on nothing but negativity.
