They Don't Like Him Either

Apparently, Hezbollah doesn't like Kofi Annan any more than we do:

UN chief Kofi Annan was booed by a crowd chanting pro-Hezbollah slogans today as he toured Beirut's southern suburbs devastated by Israel's war against the Shiite militant group.

Dozens of men, women and children angrily waved pictures of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and shouted "Allah, Nasrallah and all of the suburbs" as the UN secretary general emerged from his car to survey the destruction in the heart of the Haret Hreik area, a Hezbollah stronghold.

I don't understand why we keep him around since everyone hates him. Its like the trip to Abilene scenario.

Others booed and shouted "death to Israel" and "long live Syria" as they surrounded Mr Annan's convoy of vehicles which was accompanied by a heavy security detail.

Such nice folks..

Kind of scary to find yourself agreeing on something with Hezbollah.

I like Kofi, who is this WE you're talking about? What's not to like... he's a nice guy and he's completely devoted to world peace. Do you hate him because he was upset about Israel accidentally killing UN Peacekeepers? Or that he's trying to illegal arms trade around the world? Or that he's not as Super Duper Pro-Israel as you are? You should like him BECAUSE Hezbollah despises him so much. The only reason these people hate him is because he's just another recognizable western figure that they can boo and point their fingers at. They don't hate Kofi, they hate the western world in general.

No. I dislike him because he's a pushover, he's completely biased, and he lacks credibility.

His reign in the UN has been filled with corruption that he has dont nothing to ferret out. He demands cease-fires and other similarly silly agreements that do nothing but embolden terrorists. He says stupid off-the-cuff things that severely hurt the international game of politics.

He wasn't upset that Israel killed peacekeepers. What HE said was this: “I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces of a UN Observer post in southern Lebanon".

And this: “The troops are not going there to disarm Hezbollah. Let’s be clear about that.”

Or this story: One unarmed UN military observer, a member of the Observer Group Lebanon (OGL), was seriously wounded by small arms fire in the patrol base in the Marun Al Ras area yesterday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, the fire originated from the Hezbollah side during an exchange with the IDF. He was evacuated by the UN to the Israeli side, from where he was taken by an IDF ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Haifa. He was operated on, and his condition is now reported as stable.

Notice: in this instance, the UN observer was injured badly enough to be evacuated to an Israeli hospital. Where they saved his life. No word of Kofi Annan of condemnation of Hezbollah.

Not to mention he's the front man for one of the largest most worthless organizations in the world.
