Racism Stories Are Funny

Righteous indignation and accusations abound in this story, but little facts are present. Note in the story how little the reporter actually knows. There's also nothing but one side presented. Not that I'm leaping to the defense of the driver; if the story is true (as presented) they deserve to be fired.

Nine black children attending Red River Elementary School were directed last week to the back of the school bus by a white driver who designated the front seats for white children.
However, the really funny part in all of this is the attitude taken by everyone else involved:
He's considering asking for an investigation into the bus incident and other aspects of the school system's operations, including pupil-teacher ratio as it relates to the numbers of white and black children, along with a breakdown of the numbers of black and white teachers employed.

"If the smoke is there, then there's probably fire somewhere else," Panell said in a phone interview from New Orleans.

"I think the whole school system needs to be reviewed in Red River Parish," Sessoms said.
That, I think, is pretty sad. One bus driver turns out to be a racist jerk, and now we're giong to have a DoJ investigation into the entire school district? Where's the rationale for that?

And, as always, I've saved the best for last:
A new solution reached Monday by School Board officials has a black bus driver driving across town to pick up the nine black children.
Anti-Racism Rule #1: When all else fails, fight racism with hypocrisy.
